Horse Lick Creek - January 8, 2012

Michelle, Chazzy and I spent a nice Sunday morning exploring Horse Lick Creek on the Sheltowee Trace Trail in Rockcastle County. Our first stop was at Lake Linville to look for the Bald Eagle that has been spotted there recently but we did not find find it. We did see a Common Loon, several PBGs and about 300 Coots though. The birding was slow but nature always provides interesting sights and amazing beauty. Time for some playoff football now.....

This was just a little waterfall off Horse Lick Creek - don't know if it has a name or not and is only about 5 feet high. Here's a link to Google Maps - not sure if it will work on Pbase though:

Love the photos. My husband is from Rockcastle County but I don't know Sheltowee Falls. How long of a hike? Can you give me directions? I really loved Anglin Falls last year and am looking forward to Wild Flowering there again this year. Love the picture of the Belted Kingfisher on the No fishing sign. Saw the same thing here at London at the Somerset Community College ponds, but didn't get picture in time.
