Chazzy and I headed out early on Saturday morning to explore the natural beauty of Rockcastle County, Kentucky. Our first stop was Lake Linville, where we spotted Wood Ducks, Mallards, Great Blue and Green Herons, Canada Geese, and a Double-crested Cormorant. The best bird of the day came early when a Bald Eagle sailed through the early morning mist over the lake. After stopping in Mt. Vernon for some pictures, we headed out to hike the Horse Lick Creek section of the Sheltowee Trace Trail. After a quick lunch in Mt. Veron, we finished the day with a hike up the near dry streambed of Anglin Falls Creek, one of our favorite destinations in Rockcastle County. Overall, a perfect day to be out enjoying the beauty of nature.
