Chazzy and I made a late morning birding hike to the Miller Welch WMA to see what birds may be stirring about on this frigid morning. We found Song, Swamp, Field, and White-throated Sparrows along with Yellow-rumped Warblers and Golden-crowned Kinglets. Mallards, Pied-billed Grebes, and a single Great Blue Heron were spotted. I found an old spring-house tucked into the trees at the head of the pond. Not many birds but nature always has surprises in store for those who look.
