Mackinac Island was our last stop on our Michigan trip. The island must be reached by ferry service and no cars are allowed on the island. The area is rich in American history and Main Street is loaded with shops, restaurants, etc. The highlight is The Grand Hotel which was built in 1887. Five U.S. Presidents have stayed here, the movie Somewhere in Time was filmed here, and Mark Twain and Thomas Edison also visited. After several hours on the island we started the long drive back to Kentucky. Michigan turned out to be a great spot for a spring vacation.
