We spent two nights at the Best Western on Whitefish Bay in Paradise, Michigan. Whitefish Point is a must see in this area. The trees at the point were full of migrating warblers waiting for favorable winds to make the long flight over Lake Superior. The raptors were well aware of this fact and the air was full of Sharpies, Merlins and a few Peregrine Falcons enjoying the bounty of prey. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum is very interesting and the high point for me was seeing the bell of the Edmund Fitzgerald - a shipwreck I have been interested in since the Gordon Lightfoot song of 1976. We also found good birding at the mouth of the Tahquamenon River and Michelle spotted a bear on the opposite bank.
