Michelle, Chazzy and I went exploring for new birding areas and came upon Cave Run Lake. This looks like a great area for birding with lots of varied habitat. A large percentage of the lake was frozen over and seemed to concentrate birds near the dam. There we found Canada Geese, American Coots, Ring-billed Gulls, Mallards, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, and Horned and Pied-billed Grebes. With temps around 50 degrees we even found a few insects out and about. We are already planning return trips here in the spring.
