Chazzy and I decided to make a quick hike up Caney Island Branch despite a line of storms barreling in from Kentucky. It was a great trip as we found an old logging road full of wildflowers (and a good spot for berries in a couple of months). I heard my first gnatcatcher of 2008 and a Red-tailed Hawk circled over the hollow for a couple of minutes. The first drops of rain started falling as we were only 50 feet or so from the truck - perfect timing. A great way to end a busy week - now off to get a pizza to replace all those calories I burned.
