This Easter weekend we got to spend a couple days exploring the Breaks Interstate Park along the Virginia-Kentucky border. The warblers are back in good numbers and we found Black-throated Green, Hooded, Ovenbird, Cerulean, Yellow-throated, Black-and-white, and Pine Warblers. Other migrants included Barn, Northern Rough-wing and Tree Swallows, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Broad-winged Hawks, Phoebes, Blue-headed Vireo, and Brown Thrashers. Michelle's Mom Shirley Justus also spotted a Scarlet Tanager on her farm in Buchanan County, Virginia. Lots of wildflowers and interesting insects along with near perfect weather made for very enjoyable hikes. Get out and enjoy this time of year - Spring has Sprung!
