I enjoyed a nice weekend back home near the Virginia-Kentucky border. Saturday morning I was up early and birding the Breaks Interstate Park which is partly in both Virginia and Kentucky. The warblers were out in good numbers and I managed to locate 15 species over the weekend - Swainson's, Cerulean, Worm-eating, LA Waterthrush, Ovenbird, Hooded, Yellow, Yellow-throated, Redstart, Blue-winged, Golden-winged, Chat, Black-and-white, Common Yellowthroat, and Pine. Other migrants included Scarlet Tanager, Spotted Sandpiper, Acadian Flycatcher, Great-creasted Flycatcher, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and others. It was a great weekend to be out in the mountains.
