Berea Woods / Miller Welch - January 30, 2012

Michelle, Chazzy and I enjoyed a morning hike at Berea Woods and Miller Welch WMA today. The birding was slow but several Northern Shovelers at Lake Reba made up for it. We did find a single Bluet in bloom at the Indian Fort Overlook.....spring can't be too far away now. A few insects were spotted out as well. A great January day to be out in nature.

Ed, Great photos. I love the ones of the Shovelers, mostly because they are so colorful, but also because we don't see many of them here in Southwest VA. The one of the Barred Owl is also a favorite.

Ed Great shots. Enjoyed the great evening light display as the sun sets in the West. I too think, "why don't he write". Great line from Dances with Wolves. We played golf today near Bluntville, Tenn. Temp. was in or near 60. We have a Easter Lilly budding out on the hill behind the house. A little yellow bloom showing. What a winter so far. Keep our fingers crossed and hope it last.
