Am I seeing the same Bill Porter who came to Buenos Aires, Argentina to take delivery of an ex-LAPA YS-11 in 1980? Is he the same guy I became next to friends with and exchanged letters for some time afterwards?
If that's the case... GLAD TO HAVE FOUND YOU ONCE AGAIN!

All the best in the next chapter of your career.... If not for your superb airmanship throughout the past 38 years --- but especially on the night of 27 October 1978 --- I would not be here today. I look forward to the reunion with Capt Porter and the "unsung heroes" of Coast Guard 1500. Your recognition is long overdue and richly deserved. I sure wish I could have been there for your party, Bill. I look at your picture with the T-34 in the background and I think I have the same picture in my album at home. Must be a lot of those pictures around. I hope you make it my way soon. I don't think I'll be in Hawaii any time soon. Would like to talk awhile. Lloyd "Shorty" Smith
