I wish I was there. The end of the Aloha Explorers, a great program that has inspired and enlighted me.
The wonderful advisors through the years, giving so much of themselves, the friendships and good times.
The wonderful students, some shy, some enthusiastic, all wanting to gain knowledge and left with no regrets.
Billy, you were there at the beginning and stayed till the very end. I was always in awe of you and your talents.
So giving and what a great teacher, I learned a lot from you. Greg, thank you for keeping it going, awesome.
Jaime would say so also, I learned so much from her too, so inspiring.
To the new advisors and old, the former advisors and former explorers, thank you for being a part of this great program
and for putting your heart in it. I have very fond memories that I will cherish forever.

Wow, Look, I can sign and leave a comment on my website...
I'm not big on words like Uncle Greg BUT I can say this....
Of all the years working at Aloha Airlines, I found a Best Friend, Co-Worker and the
Most Awesome-est Brother In Jesus, A brother who goes above and Way Beyond the
call of duty....Sacrificed Dept. Meetings, Conference Calls, his wife & kids, PTA meetings,
etc. to Make the Aloha Airlines Explorers Program the #1 Program in the Airlines Industry,
The Best Mentoring Program - the Best Community Service Aloha Airlines gave back to
the Young People of Hawai'i, First Class-Professional Operation with the Best of the Best
Volunteer Advisors - who also gave up many hours of their own time - Days without pay
and one way swaps to support the program, hundreds of lunch hours & PTO...Greg, you made
OUR Aloha Explorer Program the BEST in the State of Hawai'i, and Around the World.....
Mahalo to our founding fathers...Gus Whitcomb, Donna Bulason, Tina Marshman, Amber Donavan,
Suzanne Yamada, Capt. Alton Farm and All of the hundred volunteer leaders who lead the program
all these years! Last but not least, Mahalo to F/O Jaime Wagatsuma for her biggest contribution of
dedicating her life for all of us at Aloha and for believing in our Youth that "Dreams Do Come True"
with the Spirit of Aloha in all what we do!
Congratulations former Explorers...May you continue to dream & shine flying/working for other airlines,
careers and with your new families, and to the Graduating Class of 2008...Congratulations! Believe and

Aloha my friends.
What a great night we had together one last time this past Wednesday. There are so many reasons it was a true celebration, and all of you take the credit for our success.
Many thanks are deserved, so I'll attempt to sum it all up as best I can:
Thanks Captain Walt for getting the plaques made and for being everyone's mentor.
Thanks Advisor Wes for dubbing the CDs as those long nights really paid off.
Thanks Advisor Mo for your help with dubbing the CDs, and for your own special slideshows during the meal.
Thanks Advisor Naupaka for the student scrapbooks (very nice).
Thanks Advisor Chasity for consistently covering all the bases, including the banner, upgrading the story board, keeping me honest, etc.
Thanks Advisor Kristen for making the Outstanding Explorer lei's, and for being such a great voice for Aloha in last Sunday's paper.
Thanks Tagavilla sisters for the edible creations fruit display last week, and for the cookie treats this week. Yummy!
Thanks Justin for the model Aloha airplane. The plane is sitting in the most prominent part of my house, proudly on display.
Thanks Chandler and Jerris for representing the Explorers so well on the news!
Sorry, but don't want to forget anyone, so thanks everyone for all you've done to make this year (and every previous year of Explorers) so special!
Finally, and not lastly, the biggest thanks go to Uncle Billy. Uncle Billy selflessly gave of himself for nearly 18-years to the Aloha Explorers Program. Nearly all of the 570+ students that have graduated from the program have had their lives touched by our friend. There is no equal in enthusiasm for what we too easily refer to as the 'spirit of aloha,' but sometimes have difficulty explaining. Just take a look into Billy's world, his dedication to teaching young one's to swim, his talent with speaking with his hands, his nurturing way with Hawaiiana in the classroom, his ability to make everyone his friend, and his excellence in showing the Explorers what aviation life is all about.
Did you folks know how often Billy conducted 'extra' exploring with our students? Most aren't aware, but while Advisors gave of themselves for 3-hours every Tuesday, Billy went one up on us. That's dedication to our students, and that's truly what the 'spirit of aloha' is all about.
Sorry if any of this is embarrassing Billy, and he'd never push all of this on anyone as self-promotion, but heck, someone's gotta do it. I'm proud of my association with Aloha Airlines, and proud of being a small part of the Aloha Airlines Explorers Program. But I'm most proud to call Uncle Billy my friend. It doesn't get any better.
Thank you from all the Advisors and Students Uncle Billy, past and present, for all you've done for Aloha Airlines, and for our beloved Explorers Program. It's so very appreciated!
With that, I'm signing off. Any Explorer that has any questions, wants to talk story, or needs further guidance, you've got all advisor e-mails in the line above. Don't be a stranger, but do be the great representatives of Aloha that you've become!
Aloha.
Uncle Greg.

without aloha airlines the sky would be quiet. the two stage engines are over with. Mahalo for the enthusiastic workmanship and quality of this airline. I don't think that this program should shut down because this will help other students like us to learn more about our dream jobs. This was a short but awsome opprtunity for me. Thank you:) I personally think thank you is enough for all the things you and your crew did for me.

well... it was fun while it lasted, but the program still lives on! and that's why it's such an awesome program!
yeah, the classes may be over and there may be no trip, we still take what we've learned with us to where ever
and whatever we may do in the future. it's like Uncle Greg said, when one door closes a double door opens.
we now all have the chance to spread the aloha spirit around the world. so, yeah, it's sad and I really am sorry
for the family that's being broken apart but at least on the bright side, all those people now have the chance to
brighten far more people's lives with the aloha spirit that's in all of us. thanks to all the advisers for making this
experience, while a short one, something that's really great and that I'll always remember. and yeah, I didn't get
above a 90%

I'm deeply saddened about the news of Aloha Airlines. I'm really hoping that the Governor will be
able to save the business and keep it in operation somehow. Please let us know what will become
of the Explorers Program. Will the students be able to come on Tuesday? It really is a wonderful
program that Aloha Airlines have been doing with our students. I don't know of any other airline
willing to do the same. I am grateful to all of the Aloha Airlines employees and mentors who work
so hard to help the youth learn all aspects of the airline industry. You are all amazing and deserve
only the best that life can give you.

hi robson they are asking for clearance for taxing, ft alt./altimiter(barometric pressure),what track also there are more websites that allows you to get the templates of the airports with the information of a landing sequence, what runway they need to land on etc.. if you have any questions the pilots are there for us to ask them any questions that you would need to be answered. If you were to listen to HNL you would hear 8R/L 22R/L 4R/L 26R/L a freeway departure, North arrival, West arrival,East arrival and with the templates it tells you the frequencies of any arrival/departure,shorline four, freeway four, redhill three,Kona three,West loch three, position hold is the stop line by any runway:the pilots need to stop the plane in front of it because if he crosses it their might be a runway incursion;also did you noticed that they said squack,VFR(visual flight rules),IFR(instrument flight rules),ILS(instrument landing system),DME(distance measuring equipment)/CKH,noise sensitive areas, heading, NAVAID,what type of airspace they are entering ie. HNL is a Bravo airspace like JFK,Tower/Approach,Ground control, change in frequencies(in HNL they say aloha, see you later, merry christmas, Happy new year),HNL frequencies are 118.100,119.100,121.900 ground control, also if you listen the site that allows you to track the flight from the point of departure to arrival is www.flightview.com at this site you can get the airline codes, and call sign. also if you are intrested in to anything about aviation you can either go to www.faa.gov or www.ntsb.gov enjoy listening to the pilots, you can learn alot and you would be able to ask for push back etc,ps in HNL they say HTF departure, they also say the altitude in three numbers like the headings ie what is 330,33,000 feet or they say heading 090 90 degrees, you also hear the changes of frequencis(changing form one ATC to another) I think this is about it oh yeah when they have plane trouble in the sky they ask for how many souls are onboard the aircraft and would you need the fire/rescue,Did you know that there are some people that drive around the ramp/tramac/runway checking for rubbish on these places. If you would want to become a pilot this is a start of learning? just like me asking my grandpa who worked for the FAA, once you learn this new language and not affraid of talking to the ATC the hard part I think is flying the aircraft.
