One of the most beautiful villages of the island, Mesta, is located 35 kilometers southwest of the city of Chios. It is a medieval village, classified as a preserved monument. Its elaborate architecture stems from the Byzantine period and the village itself is built like a castle. The houses, small and stone, built next to each other, form a strong protective wall on the outer perimeter of the settlement. The walk through the small alleys of the village, under the arches that form the balconies, offers the visitor a unique experience.
