Necklace of tomatoes in Chios.

The traditional Chios tomatoes are not large. They are clearly grown without fertilizers and chemicals. Especially in the summer when they are not watered, they become very small and very tasty. The way they hang tomatoes on their walls is both simple and impressive. They make a necklace of tomatoes which they hang on the wall. Tomatoes are kept in a cool and shady place outside the refrigerator throughout the winter. The huge positive is that they do not lose their taste.

clever tomato storage, as its always best to keep them out of the fridge to preserve flavour...an intriguing scene with the matching mural and wonderful stone work..
