The S70 helicopter is built by Sikorsky, has two engines, a four blade main rotor, an auxiliary power unit (APU), Dipping Sonar, ESM, Radar, FLIR, Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), HIFR, RAST and all necessary equipment for IFR flying. Since 1995, the Hellenic Navy has flown over 35,000 accident free flight hours and the Hellenic Navy Helicopters 2nd Squadron has been awarded safety milestone awards and search and rescue awards (more than 300 lives saved). The Hellenic Navy S-70 helicopters are a special variation of USN SH-60 Sea Hawk helicopters, with the code name Aegean Hawk.
