Piazza del Quirinale is a square Roman situated between the Via del Quirinale and Via XXIV Maggio. The square is bounded on the north-east by the imposing facade of the Palazzo del Quirinale , the official residence of the President of the Republic , built in the year 1585.
At the center of the square is the largest sculptural group of the Fontana dei Dioscuri , also called Fontana di Monte Cavallo, imperial age, coming from the Baths of Constantine , depicting the twins Castor and Pollux , the Dioscuri, who hold the reins of their horses. Included in the group, an obelisk that stood in the Mausoleum of Augustus.
