The picture on this page probably – well certainly would not have been in this here collection were it not for the events of October 2006. Upon instruction from club member Eugene Clerkin
I was deeply shocked to open the Sunday Times magazine and find that it had been included as one of The World’s Greatest photographs. Everybody very excited!! They were doing 3 supplements of what they considered to be TWGP’s and this one featured in the ‘Beauty’ section. I contacted the editor who told me that it was chosen because it was organic – hmmm quite..just as I had figured when taking it. She explained further - they wanted a pic that mimicked the beauty of nature itself and this shot looks almost like a shell. It was the only architectural shot featured in the magazine. Having assembled all the pics of the staircase (over 1000 she said), they chose mine – another great honour.
