St. Georges has a Facebook group. I attended the last year before it had to be shutdown in 1994 It was very sad....

From. 1973 - 1979 I lived in Repulse Bay Towers and attended St. George's Secondary School in Kowloon.
I certainly remember the McDonalds on the beach and the pirate boat they had in there!! Loved living in Hong Kong - certainly don't recognise it now!!
Now living in the UK and married with one daughter and two dogs.

Monica and Simon,
My husband and I and twin girls, 5, lived in Burnside Estates in 1971. The girls attended the HKIS as well.

I lived at Burnside Estates, which was a short distance from the beach. My brother and I attended HKIS just up the road from there. Loved it. I remember the lantern festival. We carried lanterns to the beach and watched fireworks.

There used to be a McDonalds there. My family would go every Saturday. I learned very young that I was a Burger King girl, but didn't know it. :) All I could eat at McDonalds at the time were their fries. When I went back in 2009, I was sorry to see it gone, but I bought a package of potato sticks at the local market, got a smoothie at Starbucks and sat outside and paid tribute to the old place.

I used to travel down this way on the No 6 bus every day to work in Central from Stanley Fort. One day, the road had been washed away and we had to walk down past repulse bay to get the bus further down. I was showing an American man the way as he was lost. We looked out across the bay and the Brigantine (can't remember the name) which was always moored there looked like a Ghost ship sitting on a cloud. That was the last time I saw it as it went down with all hands in Typhoon Ellen.

That building on the beach on the left of the photo - the bit that's out of view was a small coffee bar. I got thrown out of there for doing the twist to their juke box. Well I was only 7!

I guess, the photo was taken at the dragon boat festival. :)
