8 May 2005 "Goodbye dad"

I lost my father today.
I should have known better
to tell him how much I love him
when I could.
The only thing that I ever managed to give him
a grandchild with his name.
Goodbye dad, we will all miss you.

You gave him love and you gave him a grandson with his name. Do not regret; look only at the happy things. Love is not always spoken in words. My heartfelt sympathy to you. Remember him well, speak of him often and he will always be alive.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, Antonis. I lost my Mom when I was 17. I think you always wish you could have said something more. But, they do know how much you care about them. You can tell by the smile on your Dad's face how much he knew his family cared about him, how happy he was.
Guest 11-May-2005 22:48
I can feel the love between your son, you and your father...
I'm REALLY sorry my friend.

I believe many of us could feel that way Antonis, like we should have given more, but I would say a beautiful grandson is a pretty wonderful thing. The joy and pride radiates from your father's expression. Wonderful image. I am sorry for your loss.
Gail Davison09-May-2005 21:44
Antonis. I'm so sorry. That sounds so inadequate because I can't imagine what you are going through. I'm sure your father knew only too well that you loved him and what a wonderful happy photo to remember him by.

I can only say what others have, I still have both my parents.. but have lost my two brothers. Think of the good times, and look toward the future. We would all like to go back and say many things we didn't, but I'm sure he hears you even now. My warmest reguard, and deepest sympathies for your loss.

A great loss Antonis and so touching and true words.. We are all do feel sorry and we will be next to you every moment you need us! Goodbye George..
Guest 09-May-2005 06:11
I was going to comment that your photo was wonderful, how while there is an obvious generation gap, that the child and elderly man both are in tune, and are having a wonderful time. But after reading your caption, this photo is all the more special and important. I am very sorry for your lost. Like Vinh said, actions are more powerful than words.
Guest 09-May-2005 05:42
Antonis, I am so very sorry for your loss! I am glad you have this photograph to treasure. Look at the love in your dad's eyes for his grandson. Beautiful.
Vinh Luu09-May-2005 05:35
Antonis.. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My condolences to you and your family. I don't think your father ever needed you to tell him how much you loved him. Actions speak louder than words, and if he had a grandson in his name, he must've known you loved him well. With someone else to bear his name and live on, he will never be forgotten.
Susanne09-May-2005 05:18
I am sorry as well for your great loss. I do wish to say to you that we always feel that we did not tell our parents often enough how much we loved them. However, I think it is not the words that mean the most and I know that your dad knows that you loved him by your gestures and every day support. Look at him, how happy he looks in this picture, what a wonderful memory.

A chapter in your life ends but tomorrow the book writing continues...

Antonis, deepest sympathies and condolences from my family to yours. Your father knew and knows now how much you love him, I am sure he was very proud of you.
Guest 09-May-2005 04:46
Anotnis I`m so sorry to hear that. I really sorry my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for being strong and with the hope of the endless life, and with your father wishing him to be in the Lord presence.
Watching this photo I can guess that your Dad was a lovely man, who must loved you all so much and I`m sure he always felt the love from you and your family.

I`m sending to you a big hug.

By the look in his eyes and from the "smile" he knows he is loved while offering his love. Our memories are like photos imprinted in our minds, I imagine you have many. Our prayers are with you and your family as you greive this loss.
