29 Apr 2005 "Sad music for the Orthodox Passion Week"

Greece

We crucify Him for the 1973rd time
and for million times every single day.
The biggest problem is our indifference,
that we do it wearing our shorts,
during our holidays.
The biggest gift it's His resurrection,
He will be once more generous with us.

Beautiful capture full of expression.
Vinh Luu04-May-2005 18:28
Poignant. No one seems to pay her any attention...
Guest 02-May-2005 23:47
Ahhh, this is good. Great job catching the light directly on the subject. I'd crop out that guy on the right.
Guest 01-May-2005 21:00
Nice portrait.. Well captured moment!

You really do spot these shots well!
I think the figure adds something - people are just passing by, se's invisible!
Guest 30-Apr-2005 20:53
another excellent portrait with a strong story inside.

Like your composition here, Antonis...
Guest 30-Apr-2005 05:01
Nice job Antonis, your photos always capture a great deal of emotion. The only thing that I dont quite like is the person to the right, just does fit with the girl
Chris30-Apr-2005 04:41
Excellent work, Antonis
Karen Leaf30-Apr-2005 03:02
Magnificent again.
Guest 29-Apr-2005 23:30
marvellous shot - lighting accentuates the feeling of isolation here

Excellent expression captured here, Antonis.. you have such a way with candid shots..

I love your words with this pictures, maybe because I believe them to be true, also because you give the sense of someone who cares very much. Your caring comes across in your pictures of those you take pictures of. Wonderful portrait.

I can hear her. I really can...
Dan Chusid29-Apr-2005 21:49
I'm gonna buy me an accordian and go sit on a street corner and take pictures of everybody who comes up to take a picture. Maybe I'll learn how to play it too!
Guest 29-Apr-2005 21:12
sad image with the poor girl in the middle and no one else paying attention to her.
Guest 29-Apr-2005 21:04
Fantastic image. The light is great on the girl. Looking so small beside that figure. The hand in the pocket...
Guest 29-Apr-2005 20:39
This is a beautiful picture and done extremely well in b&w!
markvm29-Apr-2005 18:23
It's like this girl was picked from the multitude of shadows in the BG to carry the weight of all. Perfect, Antonis! V

This is one heck of a sad image, there's nothing quite as compelling as a child in need.
Leo Charette29-Apr-2005 17:30
You continue to show me how scenes that I pass can carry such impact when done in b&w. You are the master. I do think this image would do better without the gent on the right, but the expression on the girl and her surroundings have impact. Very well captured.
Rochelle Weiss29-Apr-2005 17:28
Indifference is mentioned in the poem, and this picture seems to show that. Here is this little girl playing beautiful music and the shadowed people in the background appear to just be moving about in their day to day business with no notice or attention to her.
Guest 29-Apr-2005 17:00
A beautiful picture. Thank you for this and your reflection on it.
Cliff29-Apr-2005 16:46
Beautiful Antonis!
Guest 29-Apr-2005 16:15
Very nice picture, I like the way you cropped it at the right and the background too
