Market seller

Dohuk, Iraq

Today is the start of an 8 day break, celebrating Newroz.
It is the beginning of the new year for Kurdistan and Iraq (I think).
Nobody ever knows when official holidays are.
The word usually comes only a day or 2 before the occur.
As a consequnce it is near impossible to organise too far into the future.

We wandered down to the market for lunch and a bit of shopping.
I always love the atmosphere of the fruit and vegetable market.
The guys are always surprised to see a westerner.
Many of them willnot even accept money from me when buying produce.
Typical Kurdish hospitality and friendliness.

Nice framing of your subject here. Loads of color just draws you into the middle.

You have given a real feel for what the market must be like. Nice composition. The tomatoes are out of this world. Do they taste as sweet as they look?

He was actually insistent I have the football poster in the shot.
Football is just as much a passion here as anywhere in the world.

those tomatoes look mouth watering! I like the way the football poster is nearly as
prominent as the veggies for sale.
