A tick - it moved frantically (for a tick at least) when I was wriggling my tasty fingers in front of it. I'm glad they can't jump. ;-) They are attracted to the scents and the warmth mammals emanate and trey try to reach their new host this way. If hosts are scarce, they wait - they can wait for months.
Of all spiders and their kin, I only abhorr these. I guess that's only fair when someone procreates by pushing its head into your blood vessels, throwing up potentially fatal bacteria and viruses into your body and swelling to an obscene size, many times bigger than the slim little fellow here.
