Nancy Natty Knickers refers to the breeches that lady cyclists wore when they rode their velocipedes. This lady represents Geelong's heritage of engineering which began at the nearby Western Foundry (that manufactured velocipedes) and continued when Ford established their vehicle assembly plant here in 1925.
