Veterans of the 363rd Fighter Group at Woodchurch, 6 June 2010
On the anniversary of D-Day, a memorial was unveiled at Staplehurst, Kent, UK at the site of the former Advanced Landing Ground. This was a temporary airfield used by the RAF, RCAF and USAAF 9th Airforce in the run up to D-Day (Wikpedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Staplehurst). Two USAAF veterans - Col. Ulricson and Lt-Col. Bullard - their families and family members of one of their late colleagues came over for the occasion. Since they flew P51 Mustangs from Staplehurst, the two gentlemen were invited to a neighbouring site at Woodchurch which had also been an ALG, and is now home to P51D "Big Beautiful Doll" owned by Rob Davies. I was privileged to be able to attend to take some pictures of the event, which culminated with Lt-Col. Bullard flying in BBD.
