Headcorn is a village in Kent, UK, with a small popular airfield. Trying out the D300 with the old Nikon 80-400 lens. Testing AF-C with 51 point 3D focus tracking and auto-ISO in some; testing my ability to pan at slow shutter speeds in others. Very cold February days, so a lot of camera wobble from hands shaking in the cold. 3D focus tracking works well, but a bit alarming to see the focus point dancing around on the screen as it gains focus. Further practise required.
Update 16 April - some more added from April. Conclude 21 pt focussing with AFC works very well. No hunting experienced, and focussing speed fast enough (with limiter on) not to notice much (if any) lag. Auto-ISO excellent. Surprisingly little need for exposure compensation using matrix metering. In camera sharpening set to +5: this helps with chimping to tell if shots are sharp, and works as en effective "capture sharpening" step for subsequent processing in Capture NX. Pictures from 12 April all processed entirely in Capture NX.
