I went back to Oaxaca in December 2009 mainly to photograph La Danza de la Pluma. I hadn't been to Oaxaca since February 2005 and this was my 21st trip there. I had forgotten how joyous Oaxaca is during the Christmas season. From December 16th - 18th the fiesta for the Virgin of Soledad, the patron saint of Oaxaca takes place. The calendas (parades) are an absolute delight from the dancing to the fireworks. December is a lively month as there are processions and dancing taking place throughout Oaxaca. In Teotitlan del Valle the posadas take place from the 16th - 24th of December. Oaxaca's folk art is a treasure to behold along with the markets. Grafitti in Oaxaca has been replaced by some interesting street art. All in all the old mixes with the new when one visits Oaxaca.
