Indigenous Clothing in Mexico

As someone who collects indigenous clothing when I travel to Mexico, I always make sure to visit the museums in the respective cities that I visit. I've put together a collection of photos taken at the Museo Textil and Palacio de Gobierno in Oaxaca City in the state of Oaxaca and the Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita in Patzcuaro in the state of Michoacán. The state of Oaxaca is broken into eight different regions; the Mixteca, Costa, Cañada, Papaloapan, Sierra Norte, Valles Centrales, Sierra Sur and the Istmo. Michoacán is broken into regions such as the Sierra, Oriente, Tierra Caliente, Cienega, Lago and the Costa. I have also included pieces of clothing from Cuetzalan, Puebla that were taken in the Casa de Cultura. I find all of the clothing from Mexico to be exceptionally beautiful!
The very last images in this gallery are papier mache life size pieces of indigenous clothing from Mexico. They were part of an exhibit that I saw in Puebla called "Fantasía Etnica". They were created by an artist called Marialuisa. I was most impressed with her artwork! To see more of this artist's incredible work visit her website at : http://marialuisa.com.mx/?page_id=132
