Great Masters of Folk Art Iberomamerica, The Banamex Collection

In June of 2015 I traveled to Los Angeles to see the Great Masters of Folk Art Iberoameria at the Natural History Museum. All of the folk art in this collection is from Fomento Cultural Banamex from Mexico City. There are around 1,200 pieces that are on display from 22 countries. The exhibit is divided into the following categories: clay, metal, wood, plant fibers, paper, stone, leather, textiles and other various forms of folk art such as totomoxtle, carved gourds, wax, horn, featherwork, flour dough figures, obsidan, seed beadwork, amber, bone, carved coconut, and shell. My best friend from when I lived in Los Angeles and I spent 3-1/2 hours in the exhibit. It was one of the best exhibits of folk art that I had ever seen! This is just a sampling of what you will see. It was spectacular! You still have time to see it as it is up until September 13, 2015. Tickets can be purchase online at http://www.nhm.org/site/explore-exhibits/special-exhibits/grandes-maestros
