2011 Santa Fe International Folk Art Market

One of my favorite events to photograph in New Mexico is the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market. I don't know of any other event where you can meet all these people from around the world and see all this folk art in one location. This year I photographed the market for the Museum of International Folk Art. Each year it becomes more and more crowded, making it more and more difficult to take photos of the artists and their folk art. The 2011 market was another huge success this year as more than 22,000 attendees came to the market to witness folk art from around the world. There were 146 artists that participated this year from 49 countries. A procession at the Railyard took place on Thursday evening where the the public could meet and greet the artists with music by the African Highlife Band. There was continuous entertainment from around the world throughout the weekend. The passport program on Sunday gave children an opportunity to meet the artists and discover where they live on a world map.
