On Saturday 19th May, I met Cathy up at Humber Park to climb Angel's Fright, a 5 pitch 5.4. I hadn't multi pitch climbed for about 3 or 4 years and could count on one hand the number of single pitch routes I had led in that time. We had fun, but the after effects were pitiful.
My toes hurt from descending in my rock shoes, my ankles hurt from standing on the foot holds, my calves hurt from supporting my ankles on the footholds, my knees and quads hurt from the descent, my rear end hurt from sitting on granite belays, my back hurt from reaching round to get gear on the back loops of my harness, my shoulders ached from being out of training and yarding on stuff, my elbow stung from banging it on the way up, my office trained uncalloused fingers and palms were sore from the granite hand holds, my forearms were pumped out from over use and no recent training and I had taken 3 aleve/ naproxen painkillers and missed quite a few bits in this list....
We are going again in a few weeks. I had better do a bit of training.
