I can't be a verbose as Phil, but I am like him this is one of the more intrguing photos of the girls I have seen you do. The expression on the face can mean so many different things, it leaves room for the viewer to decide the mood. Very nice
You blew me away with this one, Annie. It is a real jolt to see such a young child assume the trappings of another generation. It's in the shades, the tight lipped determined expression. Even the burned out hat works -- it stresses the blazing sun that decrees this costume and expression. You abstract her with light and by masking her face in those huge glasses, reflecting a confusing adult world that must seem as disorienting as the sun beating down on her hat.
A thought provoking, incongruous, abstract portrait so rich in human values: confrontation, determination, confusion, sophistication, and more. Keep on shocking me, Annie!
