Yes, timeless yet real, it's Anna's signature...
Dave Wyman10-Dec-2004 10:07
To me, there is such a timeless quality to the picture, yet it's so real, so immediately perceived, that it almost pulls me inside the room. What a great photograph.

I think the lighting and detail is fantastic... exposure is perfect. ISO 1250? and with such clarity. Very nice.

Yes you are right about stepping to the left Phil. Unfortunately there was a most irritating wooden bar just outside the left of the picture. I figured it stood in exactly the place I needed to be for this shot.

You are making a living at becoming Sweden's Norman Rockwell, aren't you, Anna! Almost everything works for you in this picture --the fire, the light, the expression and no amputations. Only one suggestion for improvement this time - If you only had taken a step to the left, her profile would have been coming out of the blackness, making it a much cleaner and forceful image. As it stands, the eye must deal with a large stone coming out of her forehead and a smaller flying stone beard that seems to have just detached itself from her chin, and is now floating just below it. Your viewers know these things are actually part of the fireplace wall behind her, but they still distract the eye by competing with her expression. If there was nothing but black behind her, there would be no distraction.

I thought she might be working with molten metal!
alexeig06-Dec-2004 01:14
Absolutely fantastic. I love the warm color and reflections on the face and ... just about everything
Carol E Sandgren05-Dec-2004 19:57
Warm and inviting image on a dark and dreary December day. I love the almost monotone golden color about it which makes me FEEL warmed. Makes me want to go put a pot of soup on the fire! The textures are also wonderful. Beautiful!

I actually felt heat when I opened this image!! LOL This is one of your best! Shu

Linda's right: Very Vermeerish! This is elegant; the lighting is amazing. So intense at the blaze, so gentle on her face, the light makes it into every cranny and shadow without overblowing or getting lost. Perfectly balanced. Great composition, too. A vote here.
Guest 04-Dec-2004 18:09
Beautiful lighting, Vermeer-ish.

Your lighting capture, particularly on the girls face, gives this photograph a feeling of a painting by one of the old masters. Magnificent!!

Again a beautiful Skansen picture. You are really a master for this kind of low light photography. Next weekend I will visit Stockholm again. So watch your steps in Skansen. Maybe I'm behind you. :-)
