The Herald of Spring
In the wild, hepaticas are found in the temperate regions of Canada, North America, Europe and Asia - often pushing their way through melting snow on sloping, wooded ground.
These spring performers belong to the Ranunculaceae family and are closely related to the anemone. Victorian and pre-war gardeners would have known them as Anemone hepatica.
