Spent today a couple of hours literally crawling in the woods with my camera. Macro world is truly interesting. When kneeling down enough you are able to find treasures!
Ceratodon purpureus, known as fire moss or red roof moss,
is the most common moss in the world.
It can be found on the sidewalks of New York City or in the Antarctic.
It can be easily identified by its high red stalks,
which grow up out of the green matted base.
These stalks are unbranched and have a tufted
capsule at the end that is bent at an abrupt angle to the stalk.
