St. Patrick's Parade

Here's a bunch of shots of the 2003 St. Patrick's day parade out in Metairie. You may find it disconcerting to see all of these floats that have nothing whatsoever to do with anything remotely Irish being utilised. For this parade, they rent whatever floats they can get from a couple of the lesser float companies in town in order to have things for folks to ride on. Enjoy.

Anything is safer than standing on the parade route! LOL! You really have to watch out in every direction as the floats come near. But most of the people get eye contact with the spectators that they underhand toss the cabbages and potatoes at.

Oh, ok! :-) I think it may be safer to stand around the corner and watch this parade! I'm not sure I want to get hit with a fly~by cabbage!

LOL! Actually, they throw potatoes, carrots, onions, radishes as well as cabbage. It's to have the ingredients for making Irish Stew. :)

Ed, As always your photos are very entertaining! I am learning more about New Orleans just by visiting your galleries than I ever did in school! One question though ~ what are the people doing with the cabbage?
