*** I explained below back in mid-August why this picture works for me, Jen. It is this quote and this empty street that sends chills down our spines. By itself, this image does not say very much to me, but with that quote, you completely change the context for that empty street. I would suggest you move this picture to your "greeting card gallery" where all of the pictures provide context for various quotes and sayings.

While this image is basically a lovely post card, the grim quote turns it around and give it an incongruously chilling touch. This silent, empty image thereby becomes a place of ghosts. I also find it unusual in that this image appears in the midst of a selection of very pleasing, positive images. Your sudden observation concerning mortality comes as a jolt. A good example of the power of context, in this case verbal, to affect meaning.
