50mm Lens reverse ring shots

Bear with me with regard to this gallery. Firstly, it is certainly not meant to be an example of stunning macro photography, it is merely meant to illustrate the kind of end result you will get using a Nikon D70 with the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 lens reverse mounted. I held the camera with my right hand and held a Vivitar 285hv in my left hand with a home made diffuser made from kitchen towel and sellotape. The flash was connected to a TTL off camera flash cord so I could independantly alter both the angle and working distance from the subject. All shots were handheld at 1/160 sec and all were at f8.
I will try and capture some bugs using this set-up once the Summer finally arrives though I fear the shallow DOF might make this prospect unrealistic. Still, as a studio type set up I think this cheap method of acheiving macro shots is perfectly acceptable. Bought the Nikon fit reversing ring off Ebay for £12 by the way if anyone fancies a cheap alternative to a dedicated macro lens.
