Yesterday's weather report, a few hazy bluish clouds, especially about the south (top) polar region... but I was pretty happy to learn that the thin squiggly feature above centre is actually the Valles Marineris, or perhaps the greatest canyon in the Solar System! Some very interesting geomorphology there, *just* out of range of my little scope. Mark Watney's home on Acidalia Planitia (Mare Acidalium) is the large dark feature on the lower left. A cloud streaks to the lower right from there. Also in this view, there's a glimpse of the tiny north polar cap, and Olympus Mons is a lighter patch rising on the lower right. In old terminology, what we now know of as the Valles Marineris went by such romantic names as Melas Lacus and Tithonius Lacus, back when the dark albedo features were the best we could distinguish on Mars.
