I just magic-wanded the child, did a Select Inverse, feathered it a bit and darkened the
rest so that only a hint of the ground colored-tiles could be seen. I still need to fine-tune it.
You cut this out very nicely! What did you use to do it? We have a program called Knockout that does a good job but I haven't used it much. This version is nicer than the one with the background, I think.
