One of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world: Mt Mayon. This thing regularly erupts. Since 1616 there have been 49 recorded eruptions. During an 1814 eruption the villagers of Cagsawa took refuge in their church. All 1100 perished when the lava engulfed them. The church tower is the only thing remaining today. The most recent eruption occurred during the second half of 2009 with 50,000 people being evacuated just before Christmas as the activity peaked.
