Another photo of a photo, in the Peace Memorial Museum. This scene shows where the Museum now stands (below the bridge in the distance). It is extremely moving to consider, as you look at this picture, that where you are standing looked precisely like this 60 years ago. This area beyond the far river bank is now the beautiful, Peace Memorial Park, complete with memorials, cherry trees, and greenery. The A-Bomb Dome in the foreground stands in complete contrast, having been preserved to this day as a stark reminder of what happened in August 1945.
I could not help thinking about current world issues surrounding nuclear energy and weapons as I looked at this photo and as I wandered around the present day city.
