As a kid I watched quite a number of Lancasters thunder at almost zero altitude over my head in the last days of w.w. 2, when they returned from food droppings near the starving population of the big cities in western Holland, back to good old Britain, in days of liberty at reach.
A few years ago I watched another memorial flight of this Lancaster over the war-cemetery of Den Burg, Texel, as a tribute to the fallen comrades over there half a century ago, quite a moving experience!
