It also grows in Florida, and we call it a powder puff (common name). It is a very popular tree here in this subtropical climate. Its leaves are very much like that of a flamboyans, but the blooms are totally different. Elliott
This tree is called Persian Silk Tree. It comes from Iran and grows throughout the south, from Azerbaijan to the Crimea (where it is called Lenkoranskaya acacia, after a place in Armenia), and even here in Vancouver.
