Excellent capture. V
This photo inspired me to check the Internet to see if a consensus has been reached on why giraffes have long necks. Nope, we still don't know. Some of the contending theories are that the long necks are:
1. For reaching high plants for food.
2. For fighting between male giraffes (sexual selection).
3. For spotting predators.
4. For defending from predators, mainly lions and crocodiles (the theory is that giraffes evolved long legs to fight off their predators and the long necks had to also evolve so that they could still reach down for water, etc.)
