Last Train to Hooterville

I learned today that the Old Town Model Railroad Depot in Old Town San Diego will close in November.
They could not survive financially due to COVID. Sad to see them go. They were always great hosts and supportive of photography.

My Dad would have loved this. It's so sad to see all the businesses that have had to shut down because of Covid.

It seems like a big loss. We had one here that closed too. A fine capture of it. I like the movement of the merry go round. V

Great photograph and sad that they could not survive the covid lockdowns many small businesses did not make it while the larger major ones still in business.
Excellent wide format presentation.

What a shame - I'm sure tourism will be getting back on its feet ! Nice shot of it. V

Sad that they are closing. A fine image of this slice of 1950's American in miniture.

How sad! This reminded me of our visit to the Apple Valley Model Railroad club in Hendersonville, North Carolina (often called "Hooterville"!) https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/60535237?image=0

A mid century representative of middle class USA. Has it became a myth...

what a detailed scene they built up here, doubtless over many years...pity all the work will no longer be there for fans to enjoy..

Marvelous shot with exquisite detail. I thought that there were enough model railway enthusiasts around that a place like this would be able to survive. It is sad to learn that is not the case. I've always been fascinated by the miniature world as represented in such a setting as here and in many other detailed model RR settings. V
