February 15

Thwarted by the Wind

About fifteen years ago we purchased a small rosemary plant in a pot at a fund raising event at the San Diego Botanical Garden.
Given the climate, water and location, this plant, now replanted in our backyard, has grown into a monster measuring about 15 feet x 6 feet x 4 feet, despite regular trimming.
The rosemary plant is now in bloom with hundreds of little purple flowers which look very attractive to me and are attractive to the bees for other reasons.
Resolved to photograph the many bees reveling in the flowers I went into our backyard with my old macro lens mounted on my trusty old D300 to photograph the bees in action.
Unfortunately it was too windy, so I pointed the camera up at our neighbors palm tree instead (which needs trimming by the way) for my photographic offering of the day.

I so would have loved to see the bees on the rosemary plant. What a pity!
Anyhow the palm tree is wonderful and I love your treatment...

Works really well making light of the dead bits by using some artistic license.. v

Fine processing, Walter. It is as if the palm is on the move, which they are of course, just often slower than we can see.

Wow! This doesn't look like the rosemary in the post on my windowsill. You made a very dynamic image. V

Very nice treatment and POV. It always seems windy on the days I want to do a macro shot. V

Oh, I had a big one too. It was a while ago. Got it at a garage sale in small pot. Then, when it was 12 feet high, we got a bad freeze for several days and it died. Now I keep my rosemary in a pot to control the size. It smelled wonderful, but too big for the space I had. I like your palm picture, very 3D and colorful. V

Love this image with the feeling of movement in the palm tips. Rosemary can wait for another day!

I like the treatment It is art. I envy a small section of Rosemary. My plant, sheltered and facing South doesn't last more than 2 years.
