The Reader

This is my first portrait with very little processing using an old Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 Q AI lens I just purchased. Judging from the serial number it was made in 1972.
Using the Non-CPU lens set up in my Nikon D700 it can be used in manual mode. The metering works and the shutter speed can be set on the camera, but the aperture needs to be set on the lens. Small matter, as I will be using this lens mostly at f/2.8.
Focusing is very precise and this lens should probably be used with a tripod, though this image was made hand held.
Thanks to PBase friend Mary Hamilton for ideas and advice regarding this lens.

That lens is super sharp, Walter, and the portrait is great. I've used some old Hasselblad lenses on my Canon in a similar fashion. V

Wonderful portrait, it speaks to a earlier time when things were simpler and in my view better. We no longer seem to have the time to enjoy a good book. V
