Great shot Walter!!! The fantail was my hanging out spot while serving onboard the USS Intrepid CVS-11 68, 69 & 70. I spent a lot of time on the fantail throwing welding rods at Portuguese man-of-war as they came by. I got pretty good at hitting them. Had my name on one of the tie downs. Ha-Ha Thanks for sharing!!

We tested the J79 engines on the fantail when the ship was still in operation. Thesehttp://www.pbase.com/jim_jeter/uss_midway_1965 were taken during the combat cruise of 1965.
