Karl Fuks house on Kirova street

Tatarstan, Russia

This once was a famous house. Karl Fuks was a professor of Kazan University in 19th century;
Alexander Pushkin (famous Russian poet) been at this house in 1833 and left some notes in his
private memos. I would be really surprised if it has not been recently demolished like so many
other historical buildings of Kazan's old town.

Hello Jola,

Thank you for the interest. This is a sad story: the whole old center of Kazan city was demolished and new steets were build. At the time (2001-2002) I was preparing to move overseas to the USA. All the streets, hundreds of old beautiful houses I loved were like this (see above).

But why are those buildings so destroyed? Pure vandalism or some other reason?
