Fairyland

Created in 1950, Children’s Fairyland is a historic 10 acre outdoor park and educational facility in which children’s literature is "brought to life" through fairy tale exhibits, animals, and talking storybooks that children activate by turning a "Magic Key".

Mission Statement
Children's Fairyland is a renowned regional storybook park dedicated to stimulating a child's imagination, creativity and desire to learn through fairy tales, fantasy sets, performing arts, animals and related exhibits and programs.

Location
Fairyland is located at 699 Bellevue Avenue in Oakland, California (just inside the main entrance of Lakeside Park) at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Bellevue Avenue on the north side of Oakland’s Lake Merritt. For further information contact: 510-452-2259.

Hello,today is Aug.29th and I live in MEXICO. I called my mom this morning and she mentioned she had seen Fairyland was having something special on TV. She went on to remind me of my age and how she took me to Fairyland when I was a baby.She says it had just opened and I then remembered going many times after that. I loved the entrance with the BIG SHOE, Mother Goose, the tea garden and bridge, I also enjoyed feeding the goats and the MAGIC KEYS to listen to the stories. I also went many times with my children and they enjoyed the shows that fairyland had. Many good memories. My mother also told me that my childhood favorite person was there also.......SKIPPER SEDLY(not sure of the spelling) and his king puppet ( King Fuddly)she mentioned Captain Satelite too. I have thought of them many times wondering if the Skipper was sill living and my mom confirmed that he looked very well. She said he was in a suit and he had white hair. To me he needed to have his skipper hat on. I asked her did she record it for me and she said "NO" she says she didn't know it was coming on. So I ask, is it going to air again? If not could you send this OLD CHILD a picture of Skipper Sedly Please. You see I am the same age as Fairyland. My birthday is February 4th 1950. I am living in Fresnillo, Zacatecas Mexico and very sentimental. Things about the Bay Area I want to know about. Also I am very surprised that in your pictures you don't have The Old Lady In The Shoe. Thanks for giving me this chance to tell about me and what I liked about when I was little.
